Hunter Zelner, MFT (she/they)
Owner of Hunter Zelner Therapy & Clinician at The Empowerment Collective
I value creativity in all parts of my life. I believe that curiosity and creativity are at the heart of how I move through the world as a person and therapist. As a result I have a deep desire to explore, understand, and empower my clients. I am direct, candid, warm and open. I work to create safe and nonjudgmental spaces with my clients through shared curiosity.
I am passionate about working with my clients to recognize larger systems that they interact with throughout their lives and how these systems impact their personal identities. I am a white, queer, intersex, kinky, non-monogamous, neurodivergent, chronically ill person. I am a painter, lover of old things, cat haver, and avid reader, and gardener.
I choose to bring my full self to the therapy space including my candor, humor, and a deep sense of empathy to support clients. I draw from a mixture of therapeutic models including Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Psychodynamic Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, Somatic Experiencing Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I find that using a mixture of approaches with clients enables me to tailor care to each unique system I work with.
I am Kink/BDSM, sex worker, non-monogamy, body neutral, and queer aligned. Some topics I enjoy working with are gender affirming care, chronic pain, working through infidelity, aging clients, navigating multiple racial and cultural identities, and processing sexual trauma.
